Operation TOOMANY: Summer Program

Our growth and development program has been curated to provide a greater sense of calm or inner peace, increased self-esteem/self-confidence, reduced risk of depression & anxiety, direction, focus, timeline for goal accomplishment, a better understanding of expectations, coping skills, patience, positive influence, healthy growth and development through physical health, nutrition & agriculture, and exposure to a variety of careers and jobs by connecting them with business partners. One of our mottoes is “BRING THE KIDS” because we understand

that there's great value in investing in our youth.

"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish & you feed him for a lifetime"

We took some time to breakdown the quote above with the kids. We talked about the significance of learning & teaching.

Once we got to the dock it was all about patience, yet another parallel to life. By the time we left they understood and even though everyone didn't catch a fish, they reeled in a few life lessons.

Cooking Class

Future Hibachi Chefs Loading!!

Led by the talented  @TheDropOffChef, the kids were so engaged and committed to the process. From learning how to properly hold a knife to getting fancy with flipping rice in a pan, this was the real deal. Almost forgot to mention that the food was DELICIOUS!

S.M.A.R.T Goals

Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant & Timely

The kids really showed up here and we couldn't be more proud. There was some incredible work that they were putting in for this activity. From cooking to attitude checks, the assignment was completed with 100% participation. This was a very interactive exercise and we had so much fun!

Sankofa Community Orchard

Along with getting their hands dirty, the kids learned about the purpose and importance of why our community gardens exist.

Led by @DuronChavis who has done so much for this city by educating and putting sweat equity into this rich soil. Thanks Duron!

Career Day

Connecting with the real world!!!

This was a rainy day but you could not tell because of the sunshine that came in with our wonderful guest. Every speaker had the kids full attention and lots of questions to answer from the curious minds of our youth.

Everyone that showed up was so cool and down to earth. They all came in prepared & tailored their presentation to their audience. You can tell that they did some homework before they came in and that was key with how engaged the kids were.
